Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturizer

Hello all! I'm back to talk about this moisturizer that has quickly skyrocketed into one of my absolute favorites! I was reading a post on Allure's website several months back. The post was about why every beauty & skincare lover should be shopping at Target - I couldn't agree more! They have a phenom product selection. This moisturizer made the list, so I figured hey, if it's good enough for Allure magazine it's certainly good enough for me. Check out why I love it below.

  • The texture really hooked me. It's a gel but it isn't runny. It's luxurious and beautiful feeling. I have oily skin, so thick and heavy moisturizers don't always work well on my skin. This moistuizer packs a hydrating punch, but sinks into your skin almost like a serum would. Smoothing it on your face is such a spa-like experience, which brings me to my next point...
  • It's $18 at Target. $18!!! You'd think you were buying crap for that small amount of money, but instead you're in for an upscale product for a great price. So well worth the money it's unreal.
  • The smell and look of this moisturizer is so unique and comforting. The scent is so calming - applying it before bed and laying down directly afterward is one of the best feelings. The product is actually a really cool blue hue, I smile whenever I open it (it's really the little things)
  • I actually finished it. I have so many skincare products, it's almost embarrassing. The fact that I used up this entire product really speaks volumes.
  • I've recommended it several times to family and friends. Since I blog and work in the beauty industry, people will often ask me for recommendations. And even if they don't, I'll give them some anyway. I think it's a great product for most skin types, and will absolutely recommend it again in the future.
  • It has Hyaluronic Acid slapped right on the front of the package. Why should you care? HA is a powerful humectant (aka moisture-binding ingredient) that keeps skin hydrated. The more hydrated your skin the plumper and younger it will look. I used to think that since I had oily skin, I didn't need to moisturize - why add more moisture? I was completely wrong. Every skin type should moisturize, it's just a matter of finding products that work with your skin type. Hyaluronic Acid is an important component in any moisturizer - do your homework before choosing a moisturizer for your skin.
Thanks for reading, friends!

7 Things to Do While Your Skincare Dries

Hi friends! So I've gotten big into layering skincare products lately. I've been using multiple products on my face at night, which means I have to wait a few minutes in between each product to ensure that it sinks in and that i'm not wiping it off with the next product.

An unrelated photo of me in my Christmas pajamas.
My makeup looks bomb though.

I'm definitely a doer. An on the goer. I hate sitting around and wasting time. As I started getting more into layering products, I realized that there was a lot of waiting around. Why not use that time productively? Here are a few things you can do while your skincare is drying and you're getting all beautified:

Pick out your work clothes
I know the exact last minute I can wake up for work without being late. From that minute on, i'm rushing around the house in a shower/hair/makeup frenzy. Picking out my work clothes the night before has been kick ass. When time is of the essence, that couple of minutes saved the next morning is a savior.

Whiten your teeth
Not the most exciting thing ever, but sometimes a necessary evil when you drink a lot of coffee like me. Plus, you're sitting around anyway, right? (full disclosure, I'm doing this right now. It tastes gross).

Organize your makeup
Have more makeup than God? Me too. I'll slap on a brightening serum and organize one of my makeup drawers. I have SO MUCH STUFF, sometimes it gets lost in the abyss. Rotate your lipsticks, move around some of your eyeshadows - you'll use the makeup you forgot you had!

Call your mom
Sometimes when i'm doing my skincare regimen at night, I have my mom on speaker. We can catch up about our days while I wait a few minutes in between laying my serums. Often times, the discussion turns to beauty! What new products were using, her latest MAC haul, me trying to convince her to use a facial oil, etc. Multi-tasking at its finest.

Our Christmas outfit selfie!

Pack your lunch for work
Similar to picking out your clothes. Anything to save me a little time the next morning is great. Plus, I won't have to worry about hunting for food around NYC during work the following day.

I love having a craft project to do while I do my skincare regimen (I know, doubly as nerdy). I'll decoupage a wine bottle in between steps while watching TV. The few minutes away from my project might give me a good idea.

Write/Read Blogs
One of my favorite things to do while my skincare dries blog! As we speak, I'm sitting here with a mask on while my husband watches football. I also like to do a little research on my favorite blogs - I'm always looking for the newest and best serums, moisturizers, eye creams, makeup etc. Surf the blogosphere while all these great vitamins are sinking into your skin!

Hope this was a fun read! In case you were wondering, my nightly skincare routine takes about 30 minutes from cleansing my face to the last step. I try to look at it less as a chore, and more of having some me time and pampering myself. Once you make that switch and actually look forward to your nightly routine, you'll never go back to the barely-taking-your-makeup-off-stage.

Happy New Year!

Herbivore Botanicals - Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist

Hi All! Writing to you today about Herbivore’s Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist (you got all that? Good) Let me start off by saying that I still can’t believe I purchased this. It’s so not something I would usually reach for. I always thought facial mists were kind of a waste of money and did nothing.

I was in Urban Outfitters during my lunch break one day, and saw that Herbivore Botanicals had a beautiful in-store display. I hadn’t heard of the brand before, and started to play with the testers (I can’t help myself). The products were so whimsy, chic and understated – simple, clean labels and beautifully colored product inside. This pretty pink facial mist caught my eye, so I sprayed it on my hand to smell it. I know what you’re thinking – why would I spray a rose-scented mist on my face? Won’t it be too strong? NO. It will not. It actually smells like the slightest hint of rose and is so pleasant. I was really digging it, and promptly took it home with me (yes, I paid first).

It now proudly sits on my desk at work, and I use it in the afternoon for an extra boost of happy. It’s strange – I actually look forward to using it each day. Just spraying it on my face is an instant mood booster. It helps to hydrate your face without messing up your makeup mid-day. You can buy it at Urban Outfitters (click here), or from Herbivore’s website (click here). It was $16, a little pricey for someone who doesn’t believe in facial mists but I REALLY liked it. They also have a blog with some interesting articles as well - Herbivore Blog.

After enjoying this mist so much, I’m definitely open to exploring more of Herbivore’s products. They offer everything – makeup, skincare, bath & body, fragrance, nail products, hair products and even wellness products. Their website is just as pretty as their products! Suffice to say that I totally get facial mists now. Anyone else use them? Thanks for reading, guys!

Fragrance Lovers – This Store in NYC is a Must Visit!

Hi dolls! I finally made a trip to the Le Labo store in NYC. I’ve been reading a lot about the brand’s cult following and was curious to learn more. The brand’s look is very minimalist and chic – almost apothecary looking – with all fragrances having the same bottle with different labels (really love the uniform look). The fragrances themselves are so complex and beautiful – my favorites are Santal 33 and Neroli 36. The founders are very committed to the craftsmanship and art of creating a fragrance. It’s the complete opposite of a lame department store fragrance department.

The coolest part of the brand is that it’s made to order. You chose what fragrance you want, and they mix it right before your eyes in store using a small fragrance lab! They also have fragrance oils, solid perfumes, bath and body products, candles and travel sized items. The travel tube of fragrance comes in this beautiful, masculine looking metal case that you can get personalized with initials right in the store (it’s refillable).

 The lab!

The store itself is charming – the fragrances are housed on what look like old book shelves and an antique writing desk:

They have some of the raw materials on display as well to tie in the theme:

The candles are housed under delicate glass domes that do a great job of holding in the scent. Le Labo is definitely on the expensive side - $160 for a 1.7oz – so save up your money! They even charge $6 for a mini sample. You can however spray the fragrance on a blotter and take it with you. Make sure you love it – I hear returning is not easy due to the made to order nature of the brand.

Anyone who is a fragrance lover would appreciate the store itself and the beautiful products. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. Stop by and play! Le Labo website.

This Non-Glam Item Earned a Permanent Spot in My Bag

Hi guys! Writing to you today about Neutrogena's Shine Control powder. This isn't the most glamorous item in the world, but it is definitely a life saver for oily-skinned chicks such as myself.

See how beat up this thing is? I don't ever leave home without it.

I always thought powder was an older woman thing. I would apply my liquid makeup in the morning before work and that was that. No reapplying or touch-ups. Well, that obviously showed. After an hour commute to work each day, my face is already shiny upon arrival. My skin has always been on the oily side, which always makes makeup application LOTS of fun haha. I used to blot my face with oil blotters seemingly ALL day, until this powder came along.

It's become essential to my routine! My mom handed it to me one day and said "your face is shiny, here." I used it, put it in my bag and thought nothing of it. When I realized I stole it (by accident!), I started using it  regularly with surprisingly good results. I was so impressed by the way it seemed to completely soak up the oil and eliminate any shine. Now I even use it as a preventative measure. When I get to work, I do a quick pit stop by the bathroom, hit my T-zone and I'm good to go. It's so translucent, so it won't mess with any makeup you already applied (just make sure you let your liquid makeup set before rubbing this on top).

It comes with a mirror and a little cosmetic sponge that fits inside - perfect for on the go, after work, in between meetings, etc. As I've said, this has definitely earned it's spot in my (very competitive) makeup bag. Thanks, mom!

Decoupaged Real Pumpkin with Flower Crown

Hi guys! Hope everyone had a great Halloween. Wanted to share with you a fun (and easy!) craft that I did for fall. Check it out!

Here’s what you’ll need:
• A real pumpkin
• A hole puncher – any shape you want
• Mod Podge – I used the original for this project
• Hot glue
• A small paintbrush
• Some type of applique to crown the top

How to:
1. I bought a real pumpkin (see how easy?)
2. I used a hole puncher (heart shaped) and punched out pictures from an old Food Network magazine.
3. I decoupaged (the art or craft of decorating objects with paper cut-outs) the heart shaped pieces on top of each other using Mod Podge to get the layered effect.
4. I topped it all off with little floral appliques applied with hot glue.

Easy, fun and unique! It’s a fun project to do while you’re watching TV or just want to spend some time being crafty. I have mine sitting as the centerpiece of my dining room table and am really enjoying it!

I did a similar pumpkin project last year (click here) and the real pumpkin lasted a very long time, so no worries there. This decoupage technique can apply to many objects, and is really fun once you get the knack for it. I’ve done decoupaged shoes using comic books (click here), band bracelets (click here), Easter eggs, little jewelry boxes and so on.

Hope you guys enjoyed!

Beauty Lover by Day, Bad Ass Crime Fighter by Night?

Hi everyone! Why do I look like a crazed superhero, you ask? It’s not even Halloween, you say! You’re right – this is not the beginning stages of my Halloween costume and no, I am not Batman.

I’m wearing a Brightening Black Eye Mask from a company called Sexy Look. Since I’ve been going hard at my face mask game, I figured I would try a targeted sheet mask for just the eye area. When I started doing some digging, I couldn’t believe how specific some of the sheet masks got – chin masks, lips masks, neck and cleavage masks, hand masks! Craziness. The skin around the eye area is very delicate and requires care – keeping up with your eye creams for moisture, being gentle when you scrub off your eye makeup, making sure your under eyes doesn’t get sun damaged, trying to get a good amount of sleep to avoid dark circles. With that said, why not give the area a little extra love? A targeted eye mask it is!

I’ll be honest, I chose this specific eye mask because the packaging looked so damn cool. And also because the mask itself is black (many sheet masks I’ve tried are just plain white). I imagined myself sitting on the couch watching TV and simultaneously thinking up ways to be a vigilante. I was sold.

The mask was easy to apply. After unfolding it, I used a mirror to smooth it out. It wasn’t as sopping wet as some of the sheet masks I used, which I preferred for around my eyes. The mask was a little too long length-wise on me, so the ends kind of rested on my hair. I was just going to bed afterward so it wasn’t a huge deal. I left the mask on for 15 minutes, then rubbed in the excess gently around my eye area. My under eyes felt very refreshed and taut. I waited a few minutes for the excess to sink in, then applied my nightly eye cream. When I woke up the next morning, I didn’t really see a noticeable difference. Not that I thought one sheet mask was going to change my face forever, but it seemed the effect of the mask was just temporary from the night before.

This individual mask was $2.50 from I probably won’t repurchase. It wasn’t terrible but it didn’t really blow me away either. There are also so many other masks out there to try, so maybe there is an eye mask out there that is going to knock my socks off. I will say, however, that wearing this does make you consider a life of fighting crime.

My Beauty Diary Black Pearl Sheet Mask

Why this sheet mask, you ask? I’ll tell you how I got here.

I bought this mask from, and was very happy with my purchase (they are so quick!). Their website describes this Black Pearl mask as:

Description: My Beauty Diary's Black Pearl Mask is the brand's most popular sheet mask! Its essence formula nourishes and brightens the skin with a unique combination of ingredients from the sea: Tahitian black pearl extracts (rich in proteins and amino acids that restore luster) and deep sea red algae (which gives a boost of Vitamin C). A variety of plant and fruit extracts, like pineapple, cucumber, and lime, lighten your natural skin tone and minimize dark spots, while citric acid gently exfoliates dead cells. Cosphingo, a patented long-lasting moisturizer extracted from seaweed, provides hydration. This mask energizes skin and leaves your face soft and radiant.

To Use: After thorough cleansing and toning, apply mask to face and leave for 20-30 minutes. After removal, gently massage the excess essence into skin.

Sounds wonderful and easy enough, right? But why did I even start buying sheet masks to begin with?

The sheet mask market is absolutely exploding lately. They have been an essential part of the Korean skincare regimen for a while now, however now I see them all over the US too. I’ve tried quite a few lately – from the Sephora brand sheet masks, to the new Dr. Jart sheet masks, a Benton Snail Bee mask, an Aloe sheet mask from Korea and the list goes on. I have been completely obsessed with finding sheet masks that are affordable and great. This Black Pearl mask is absolutely at the top of this list for a few reasons.

1. The first thing I noticed about this mask was its WEIGHT. I know that’s a weird thing to say but it’s true. The single packet had some weight behind it, which made me think it contained a lot of product. It did.

2. Unlike the other sheet masks, it unfolded easily do to a plastic, removable backing on one side. Sometimes it’s a tricky thing unfolding sheet masks – they are wet with product, and the folds stick together. But you can’t be too rough and pull too hard to unfold or it’ll rip. A small detail, yes, but I’m trying to give you guys all the facts!

3. It’s $1.99. This is a single use mask. For the amount of product included on the actual mask, this is absolutely 100% worth the $2. As much as I adore Dr. Jart (love their BB cream) – their sheet mask paled in comparison to this one. And get this – it was $9 for a single mask. It was good, not great. The Sephora brand sheet masks are $6 – not a bad price – however I found these to be extremely dry with barely any product on them whatsoever. I bought 2 of the Sephora masks to try and was very disappointed in the results. This Black Pearl mask was $2 and blew the others completely out of the water.

4. The experience while wearing this mask overall was very pleasant. It did what most sheet masks do – relaxes you, has a slight cooling effect, makes your skin feel really nice. I left mine on for 20 minutes. When I removed it, I had to rub the excess product into my face (there was quite a lot). The only slight negative while using it, was that it drips a bit due to the generous amount of product on the mask. I would just keep a small towel handy just in case you need to dab some off your neck or chest area. Other than that, I really loved it. I went back on the Beauteque website and saw that they have a multi-pack of this mask – I'm considering it.

You can get yours here on the Beauteque website! Click here

In conclusion, this mask is a great purchase for the money. If it was $9, I would still buy it. At first, I was very overwhelmed at how many sheet masks there are out on the market - I had no idea what I was doing or how to pick a good one. After doing some research and reading some customer reviews (you guys rule!), I just started trying some and finally found a GREAT one that I love. Happy masking!

Why Buying the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is Worth It

This is one of the most beautiful face products i've ever used - and it's like $20. In a world full of expensive skincare products, it can feel overwhelming when trying to build the perfect product cocktail for your skin.

What's nice about today - you don't need to spend a ton of money to keep your skin looking great. I've tried it all - from La Mer to drugstore skincare products. Now, of course i'm not saying that the expensive ones don't work - they do - and are nice for a treat. But for the non-millionaires out there like me - this sleeping mask is so wonderful and you won't be sorry you purchased it.

As you can see, the texture of the product is like a lightweight gel. The beautiful color, texture and smell really make me eager to massage it into my face. I don't look at this as a chore or just another step in my routine - I look forward to it.

Another thing I love - it's an immediate stress reliever. This sleeping mask is formulated with what they call Sleepscent - which is a smell designed to relax you - think day at the spa. It has such a beautiful cooling sensation also. It dries into skin fairly quickly. For those you don't know, a sleep mask or pack is essentially an overnight moisturizer/mask product that you don't have to rinse off and usually has deep moisturizing benefits.

I use this about 3 times per week as the last step in my skincare routine. I wake up with my skin feeling very plump and moisturized. There's a noticeable difference. I find myself starting my nightly routine earlier now, just so I can give my face a break from my makeup and give the products a chance to sink in. I bought this at Target, who has a wide range of great skincare products, including more Laneige. To get yours or learn more, check it out here.

TONYMOLY Panda White Hand Cream and So Cool Eye Stick!

Sooooooooooo.........can we please discuss this cuteness?!

I was overjoyed to learn that Urban Outfitters carried TONYMOLY products. I’ve been after the So Cool Eye Stick for a few weeks now, just didn’t want to pay the shipping/handling online. I went to Urban during my lunch break and was so happy that they had it! I also picked up his big brother, the Dream White Hand Cream. I am loving both so far.

The So Cool Eye Stick is pretty unique –it’s basically an eye serum in solid stick form. Roll it under your eyes (no finger tips or brushes needed) for a nice soothing, cooling effect. I’ve read online that people say this product makes them look more awake – I think I agree! I like to use it halfway through the workday for an extra boost. It goes on very sheer and doesn’t disrupt your makeup. It has a very slight, spa-like scent that’s not offensive or overpowering. Aside from being a good product and being super cute, the price tag doesn’t suck either – just $12. I’m really happy that Urban carries it – I saw it on the Sephora website, but it looks like it’s been sold out for quite a while. (get it here at Urban).

Ahhh headless! HA

I’m also pleased with my somewhat impulse purchase of the Panda’s Dream White Hand Cream. I’ve been looking for a cute hand cream to display on my desk and I’ve definitely found it in this little guy! The hand cream has a pleasant, fruity smell that I like. I don’t think the actual hand cream is anything crazy special – just a regular old hand cream. While I might not repurchase the hand cream, I will definitely refill this cute panda component with different hand cream, just so I can keep it out on my desk. Get it here at Urban.

Have you guys tried either product?

TONYMOLY Prestige Snail Lip Treatment

Hi friends! Another makeup review for you. I recently purchased this Snail Lip Treatment by TONYMOLY from This was part of my first ever asian skincare haul. I've heard mixed reviews about it, but went ahead with the purchase. I'm always looking for the newest and best lip treatment products, since my lips suffer from dryness all year round. So here we go!

The look of this balm is pretty cool. As seen above, it's completely clear which is interesting. You can see the bottom and sides of the pink component through it. The texture is nice - it's like a hard gel. Not too soft or hard. It has a thick feel to it. It smells slightly fruity, but not overpowering.

The thing I like about it most is that it lasts incredibly long. I've pressed my lips together hours after application, and they still feel moisturized and slick. I like applying it right after the shower, then dabbing it off to apply lipstick on my lips. It leaves a nice non-flakey base. I bought it on Beauteque for $8.25 which is a little expensive for a lip balm. But now that I have it, I love using it. It lasts, smells nice and looks cute. What more can you ask for? Thanks for reading!

Me and My Makeup: 20 Questions Beauty Tag

Sometimes, I can't resist a good makeup tag! Read on for my favorite things!

Do you remember your first makeup item?
It was probably something horrific. I'm having flashbacks of hair and body glitter.

Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
I love a good thickening mascara. I like my lashes to be really black. I use MAC Haute and Naughty right now and have been for a few years now. I'm open to trying a new one now - maybe i'm missing out on a great mascara by sticking to the same one!

 Haute and Naughty in action!

What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?
I don't wear foundation. I'm addicted to my Dr. Jart BB Cream and wear that daily. It's perfect for my needs - it moisturizes, color corrects, has a high SPF and gives me just enough coverage. I definitely credit it to improving my skin (I've been using it for about 2 years now religiously).

There are lots of versions of this now, but I love the original!

Favorite high end brand?
Where do I even begin? I have a few favorites - Laura Mercier is my current makeup obsession. I love Estee Lauder, Origins and La Mer skincare.

Paint Wash liquid lip color. I can't count how many shades of this I have - it's that good.

Wonderful serum

Miracle worker serum. It does it all.
It's been around for years and it's even more popular than before.

A splurge for sure, but one that's worth it. You only get one face, afterall!

What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?
Any new innovations from Korea. The products are really neat, and are unlike anything we have here in the states. It's also really hard for me to resist cute packaging! I can't think of one single beauty brand in America that I haven't gotten my hands on yet, even if it's just one product from the brand!

Favorite drugstore brand?
I'm not really particular when it comes to drugstores brands. I like to try different things from different brands. If I read on a blog or in a magazine about a certain lipstick, I'll get my ass to CVS and pick it up.

Do you wear fake eyelashes?
On special occasions, yes. I love the drama of it.

Is there any kind of makeup you can't leave the house without?
My BB cream, but only because it has SPF. I'm a freak about taking care of my face. The second thing would be mascara. I think people look tired and undone without mascara.

What is your most cherished beauty product?
Probably Kat von D's Tattoo Liner. It's absolutely the best eyeliner I've ever used and I replenish it every time it runs out.

 Love you

How often do you shop for makeup?
It's sporadic. If I read about something I want, I'll run to the store after work. But then I might not buy something for weeks. I've learned not to buy things for the sake of gaining more makeup. It's definitely quality over quantity! Read reviews before you buy something. It's worth doing a little research on your end to see if it's worth your while.

Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?
I don't have a dollar amount that I stick to, but I watch what I buy. Like I said before, I really research and think it through before purchasing something.

What type of product do you buy the most of?
Lip products and face masks. I can't get enough of either.

Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?
Doesn't bother me, no.

Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?
I love Sephora, CVS, and online. One of my favorite new online boutiques for Korean skincare is

My latest haul from Beauteque!

Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?
Um I try everything. I love switching up my eye creams, serums, moisturizers and face masks. Your skincare routine is specific to YOU - what works for your best friend might not work for you. So experimenting and trying new combinations of products to strike that balance is important. I also am an organization freak and have a skincare spreadsheet. Not kidding. I try to work in exfoliating a few times a week, a mask a few times a week and using a retinoid once per week to prevent aging - all detailed on the spreadsheet. Yes, you can laugh!

Favorite bath and body brand?
For body, I really love Jo Malone fragrances. For moisturizer, I use Vaseline Spray and Go lotion every morning. It's quick, dries fast and makes my legs really shiny. For bath, does my Clarisonic count? I use it every day and it's wonderful. Not sure what I did before it was invented!

Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?
Not so much. Maybe for the beach or something but i'm not big on multi-taskers.

Are you clumsy in putting makeup?
Uh yeah you could see that. Have you ever seen this meme? That's me.

Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?
I haven't, but I love reading blogs with step-by-step directions or watching You Tube videos for a smoky eye or how to line your lips perfectly (my newest challenge).

What do you love about makeup?
I love colors, being creative and feeling good about myself.

Thanks for reading!

Friday Funsies - 5 Items on my Beauty Wishlist!

Hi friends! We made it through another week! Barely...

I keep a running list on my phone of beauty products I want. I have one list for groceries, one for errands, and one for beauty stuff that I NEED TO HAVE. Just as important as milk.

The list below includes a few things I've been pining over lately. Check it out!

I've heard great reviews about this product and really want to try it! Laneige is all about what they call "water science skincare." Many of their products are gel like in texture which I love. Having oily skin, I prefer products with a gel texture that isn't greasy but still moisturizes. I've also become engrossed with Korean skincare lately, and sleeping masks and packs are part of their regimen. The price is right too - $23.

Get it at Target: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

Can you even stand how cute this is?! Besides the obvious “I want it because it’s cute” appeal, people are loving the actual product inside. Sephora describes it as “A portable eye serum in a stick that moisturizes and cools the delicate skin around the eyes as it smoothes the appearance of fine lines.” I really want to get this and just leave it on my desk at work. I love the idea of a serum in stick form. Very cool, cute and only $12!

Get it at Sephora: Panda's Dream So Cool Eye Stick

It’s no secret that I love everything Origins makes. Their masks are an absolute staple for me. Because I’ve been so focused on my skin lately, I figured I would start using a toner. I currently don’t use one now, and figured it can’t hurt, right? Toners are great for people with oily skin (me) and they take off excess makeup you may have missed after washing your face. When your face is less oily, there will (hopefully) be less break outs. Toners also shrink pores. I looked into this Origins toner and it seems to get a lot of praise! It is said to have a pleasant, non alcohol smell and gets the job done. $22.

Get it at Sephora: Origins Zero Oil™ Pore Purifying Toner

I’m obsessed with lashes. Anything that will grow or thicken them is of interest to me. You have to apply this serum twice a day, and results could take 2-3 months. To me, it is definitely worth it. It’s super easy – just swipe the little applicator along your lash line (and brows, if you want) and you’re done. I’ve used Latisse before (review here) so I know that lash growth and a change in thickness is absolutely possible. You really just need to be diligent and apply as directed. When this product launched, it sold out so quickly in Asia. This baby doesn’t come cheap though - $35.

Get it at Sephora: Shiseido Full Lash Serum

And last but not least, MAC lipglass in Nymphette. Do I have drawers filled with lip glosses already? Yes. But is it ever enough? No. This gloss is a beautiful champagne pink shade with a bold gold shimmer in it. I love that you can wear it alone or top off a lipstick with it for a little something extra. I see this shade come up on makeup blogs all the time, and think I owe it to the makeup addict in me to give it a spin.

Get it at MAC: MAC lipglass in Nymphette

Thanks for reading guys!

Cherry Cherry Lips - Modeling Gel Patch

My second ever Korean skincare product - this Cherry Cherry Lips Modeling Gel Patch. It's unlike anything else I've ever used. As I said in my previous post, Korean skincare has a much more concentrated approach to beauty - case in point, a mask for just lips (as well as chin masks, eye masks, even cleavage masks!)

So besides the fact that this is completely adorable, I wanted to try it because my lips are eternally chapped. I use different chapsticks and lip balms all the time to fight the dryness, and I even exfoliate using a sugar scrub. I thought this lip mask might help.

Here it is in the package (and my cute PJ pants)

And here's me with cartoonishly large jelly lips HA. Not so cute.

My experience with this mask was just so-so. I really wanted to LOVE it because it looks so cute. It has the exact texture of real jello - be careful taking it out of the package or you might rip it. It has product on it, so it's also pretty slimy/slippery. I figured out that I needed to lay flat on my back while using this, or it slid down my face like a slimy slug. Sweet...

I left it on for about 20 minutes. I read online that no washing or cleansing afterward was needed, and just rubbing in the excess product with your fingers is fine. While my lips felt pretty moisturized, the dry flakes were still there. The next morning, my lips felt unchanged. I feel like this masks is more gimmicky vs. one that really benefits the lips. To really improve dry lips, I suggest using a sugar scrub (like Fresh's Brown Sugar Scrub) a few times a week and use a very moisturizing lip balm after washing. It will make a big difference!

I will say - wearing this mask (or any mask really) makes me slow down a bit. We're all so hooked up to our phones and lap tops, that sometimes slapping on a mask and closing your eyes for a bit feels so great.

Have you guys tried this mask? Am I missing something major? Would love you hear from you, as I am new to this Korean game! xoxo

My First Korean Skincare Product! Snail Bee High Content Mask

Hi guys! It's been a minute. What have I been up to? Well, I've fallen down the Korean skincare regimen rabbit hole.

Being 29, I've been really into perfecting my skincare routine. I love trying new serums, lotions, creams, eye creams, etc. I've heard how elaborate an asian skincare regimen can be, and was really interested to find out more. Many products here in America are multi-taskers - they supposedly do it ALL. Korean products are a lot more concentrated to one concern or area - one product for anti-aging, one for anti-acne, one for brightening, and so on. That's what I found to be the biggest difference thus far.

Seemingly hundreds of articles, websites, customer reviews later, I finally decided to bite the bullet and try some of the fun asian products for myself! I ordered from a website that's right here in America ( that sells everything from sheet masks, to essences, toners, the whole nine yards. It came quick and the prices were good! Being that I am so new, it took some research (and some websites that were written in English) to figure out what products I should try.

I figured that a sheet mask was a good bet, but the next question was - which one? There are hundreds upon hundreds of sheet masks, so back to Google I went. I kept seeing this Snail Bee High Content Mask show up on favorite lists of prominent bloggers and magazines so I ordered it, and a few other products too (will blog when I try them!)

So now to the mask. I am a huge mask fan. I try to do a mask 2-3 times per week and genuinely enjoy the experience. I think I currently have about 8 or 9 regular masks in a tube or jar. I'm not easily impressed. This mask was AMAZING!! I cut open the pack (it's a single use mask) and unfolded the mask. There was a TON of product on it. It feels very wet and a little slimy. The texture was a little odd at first. I put in on my face - there are holes for your eyes, nose and mouth - and smoothed out the bubbles. I immediately felt relaxed. I left the mask on for 30 minutes, which is a lot longer than I leave my other masks on for. I laid flat on the couch while watching a movie and that seemed to work well - the mask stayed in place. After 30 minutes I took it off and rubbed in the excess product. After my face drank up the excess, there was a noticeable smoothness all over my face. It felt really great and polished.

The next day, I feel like my skin was even BETTER than the day before due to this mask. It was so nice waking up and feeling super smooth skin. If you're not familiar and are wondering why the mask has Snail in the title, you read that right. Snail mucus is a popular ingredient in Korean skincare that supposedly works wonders - fights wrinkles, promotes whitening and brightening, smooths skin, etc. There are entire skincare lines that include this ingredient and people swear by it. If this is what one sheet mask can do for my skin, I'm very interested to try a cleanser or even a night cream with this ingredient.

Now, I am in no way saying that I'm about to adopt the asian skincare way all at once - putting 17 products on my skin is a drastic change that has to be worked up to so you can see what your skin can handle and what works for you. But it certainly has opened my eyes to trying new products and techniques.

Thanks for reading guys!

Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Backstage Bambi

So this lipstick is the absolute shit. I LOVE it. I have been a longtime fan of Kat von D’s makeup line – I think she puts out great products and I love her color assortment. The Tattoo Liner got me hooked – I use it almost every day (review here). So when I read that people loved these long lasting lipsticks it was a no brainer. I HAD TO HAVE ONE!!!

The line is called Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks and it lives up to every bit of that name. The lipstick goes on like velvet and dries down to a beautiful matte finish. I really wanted a few shades, but knew I was just being a psycho and told myself I was only allowed ONE. I wanted Lolita but they were sold out. Lolita is a shade that would look great on almost anyone (think like a Kylie Jenner shade) so I can totally see the appeal. (Type in Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Lolita on Pinterest and see how many photos pop up). There’s 28 shades so there was a lot to pick from! I settled on Backstage Bambi which is a beautiful hot pink shade. I’m wearing it today with a royal blue dress, and this lipstick POPS. It’s bordering on being neon pink because it’s so bright, but less tacky if that makes sense. You still with me? Good.

 Me today!

I love this lipstick for a few reasons.

1. I love the texture. Any matte finish lipstick that I’ve tried always has a horrible drying effect. If you have dry, flakey lips like me, this is your nemesis in lip color form. This lipstick has minimal drying and that is after hours of wear.
2. I love that you can paint it on like a lipgloss. I feel like I have more control over where the product goes on my lips. I didn’t even use a lip liner and don’t think I need one. It’s very pigmented so precision is key.
3. I’m always a packaging whore and this one doesn’t disappoint. I also like that it’s super skinny and doesn’t take up a lot of room in your makeup bag.
4. The shade Backstage Bambi is shockingly pink – and it’s awesome. I, like most makeup addicts, seem to buy the same shade of pink from every brand under the sun. Enough already!! I wanted something different and fun and am happy with my choice.

After reading seemingly hundreds of reviews on about this lipstick, I was finally convinced to try it. And I’m so glad I did. The reviewers online said they went back to get more shades – I get it now. If Lolita ever comes back in stock, I’ll be at the nearest Sephora begging the cashier to take my money.
