L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Silky Liner in Black - Product Review
Sup makeup peopleeeeeeeeeeee! I just bought this eyeliner. I've been OBSESSED with Kat Von D's Tattoo Felt Tip Liner (read review here) but also needed a black pencil liner.
I bought this one for Halloween, actually, because I figured I could still use it afterward for regular, non-Halloween life. To kick it off, there's a few things I love about it, and some things I don't. Let's read on.
Texture: This pencil is very coal-like and smudgy. It glides on beautifully and is very soft which I love. There's nothing worse than trying to use a stiff pencil on your skin, it hurts! Like I said, I used it for my Sugar Skull makeup and it worked out great. I basically drew all over my face with it and had great control over where the product was going. I haven't tried yet, but I would assume it would be ideal for a smokey eye - very blendable, smudgy and sexy.
Wear: This is a little tricky. I've been wearing this liner in my water line for the last couple of days and I'm a little torn. I love the texture, but can't seem to stop the fall out that it gives off. I'll see little dots of black under my eyes and have to wipe them off, which causes them to smudge. Not great right before you're walking into a meeting! I even tried using a smudge tool to spread out the product, thinking maybe the fall out wouldn't happen. No dice. This pencil might be better suited for the eyelid and not under your eyes.
Look: I love the look of this pencil. I know you guys will know what I mean - it is BLACK. Like very very dark BLACK. It gives off a really nice, bold line which I love. Now if only it wouldn't smudge on my face!!
Verdict: I do like this pencil. I'm not giving up on it yet. I'm going to try and maybe do a smokey eye to see if it's just the waterline that's the problem. The texture really kicks ass, and it's one of the blackest pencils I've come across. I'll also try some primer on my eyelids before applying, perhaps that will give the liner something to grab onto.
What do you guys think? Anyone try? There's a beautiful Teal color in the Silkissime line - if I can get the black to work for me I would love other colors!
