Your Makeup Bag: What to Keep, What to Toss. Would you pay someone to go through your makeup bag?
This place will. It's called Rouge New York and it's in Soho. I stopped by the makeup salon last week, and was quite impressed. First - the place has a very retro and glamorous feel. Beautiful mirrors with big Broadway type light bulbs around them. They offer a variety of services (I took a business card) but this one in particular interested me - it's called "The Ransack." This is how Rouge describes the service:
You bring your makeup bag to Rouge, we’ll go through it with you and discuss what to keep, what to toss and what to add. We’ll then apply the look of your choice and show you how to make the best use of your personal makeup kit.
This is such a neat idea. How many times have we gone to a makeup counter, and the beauty consultant wanted to sell you a new foundation, concealer, mascara and the list goes on. This service shoes you how to use what you already have to your advantage. Also - how many times do we hold on to dingy old makeup and can't bare to part with it? Does it make sense to trust a professional when they say "you don't need this. chuck it?" Now, what you actually do with their advice is totally up to you. But it got me thinking - what would they think of MY makeup bag? Do I have all the essentials? Am I missing something major? Is my makeup bag a piece of crap?
The service isn't cheap - it'll cost you $125 for The Ransack service. Hey, it IS in Soho. But it got the wheels turning. What if makeup artists offered this service at a cheaper price or as an add on? What do you guys think? As always, thanks for reading!
