Game On, Couch-to-5K

Today, Greg and I are starting the program Couch-to-5K to get in shape for our wedding! If you've never heard of it, it's a running program created for beginners. It's 3 times a week for 9 weeks, and starts you off very slowly - the first few days are a mix of jogging and walking for 20 minutes. The idea is to start you off slow so you don't burn out and get tired, or worse, hurt yourself. You can download an app for your phone or ipod that tells you when to change pace and keeps track of your time. At the end of 9 weeks, you should be able to run a 5K without stopping. To check out the program details, click here! Of course I'd rather sit on the couch and drink vodka, but I guess I need to start getting my ass in gear being that our wedding is 5 months away ha!

We were totally nerdy and excited about starting the program and went out and bought custom sneakers from Fleet Feet in Hoboken (above!), then went to Target for tons of new running gear.

Wish us luck! I will check back in with you guys about how we are doing. I'm not a work out freak by any means, I actually hate it, so we will see how it works out! I still intend on doing my zumba class once a week, so let's cross our fingers! More product reviews to come soon... =)

LashBlast Clump Crusher Mascara

The brush

The goods

It’s Friday! We made it! Barely. So this mascara is another one I got in my CEW goody bag! I usually don’t buy very many mascaras to try (I tend to stick to a few I really like) so I’m happy that they provided this one. I like it, it’s just not for me. Kind of sounds like a bad break up line, doesn’t it? Let me explain…

This mascara really doesn’t leave any clumps, so it does stay true to its name. It’s just a little too natural for me – I feel like I’m wearing no mascara at all. Each time I’ve tried using it, I ended up layering another thickening mascara on top of it to add more drama. So nothing bad about it, it just doesn’t BRING IT in my opinion. However, I do see it making a great bottom lash mascara – getting clumps under the eyes sucks and is sometimes tough to remedy. It is a water resistant mascara, therefore it's a little tougher to remove like most water resistant formulas. I would suggest holding a cotton pad with makeup remover on your eyes for 5-10 seconds (so the remover can break up the product) then try wiping.

Anyone else try this one? Happy Friday and weekend!

Tom Ford Eyeliner - Noir Absolute for Eyes

Let me start off by saying that this gel liner stayed on my eyes for 14 - FOURTEEN - hours and did not budge. I applied it in the morning before work, went to zumba class and sweat my ass off, my allergies were on high alert and my eyes were watering...nothing. It looked as if I had just applied it. See photo below of my makeup at the end of the night before washing my face for bed. And oogle the pretty TF packaging...

After 14 hours and working out!

I know that buying a $35 eyeliner isn't ideal, but hey, if you find a knock out product that rocks I say go for it. Aside from the formula lasting ridiculously long, I love the color. It's black with dark blue flecks (you can kind of see the blue in the photos above). They aren't chunks of glitter or anything that end up all over your face - this did not flake or smudge once. I usually wing out the liner, but I was too tired and didn't feel like obsessing over if my wings were exactly the same and perfect (does anyone else have that anxiety?)

I applied it with a gel liner brush from Tarte - it's a short, stiff brush which worked well with this formula. I've tried a lot of gel liners and a lot of them are almost perfect but never quite got there. This one may be it. Can you believe my nerve in trying to get you to buy a $35 eye liner?! I'm crazy right?? Maybe. But sometimes i'm a makeup snob and like pretty and expensive things that are cool. My poor fiance...

Hope you guys are having a good week, Friday tomorrow! Will try to post again tomorrow, hopefully i'm getting my blog groove back =)

Glam Glow - Product Review!

I'm back! Muahahahah. I've been sucking with reviewing products for you guys, but I guess that's what happens when you plan a wedding right? I will try to be better!

Let's rewind a few weeks...

I just became a member of CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) and got the awesome opportunity of going to their yearly product demonstration event. Hundreds of beauty vendors were there showing off their new products before they hit the market. It was really cool to see what each brand had to offer, and of course geek out about makeup with everyone you talk to. Oh, and did I mention this is the goody bag I received?

So yeah, clearly many more product reviews on the way! This one couldn't wait though...

I've been wanting to try Glam Glow for months, but couldn't bring myself to pay $69 for a mask. I have a few masks at home that I really enjoy from Clinique, Murad, Darphin, etc. So imagine my surprise when Glam Glow came in my CEW goody bag! I think I almost puked I was so excited.

The color is ugly, as you can see. It's not going to make you feel luxurious and sexy when applying it. The directions say you can leave the mask on anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, so it's really up to you. This thing HARDENS. But like really hardens. More than any mask I've used. I started being dorky and tried moving my face to see if it was possible (yes, really). I left mine on for about 15 minutes before washing off.

I was surprised at how easily it washed off. Since it hardened so much, I thought I would need a buff puff or washcloth to chip away at it but nope, just used some warm water and my hands. My skin was radiant afterwards! I didn't apply any moisturizer or serums because I wanted to see what affect the mask had. My skin felt really clean and like it could breathe (huge for me). I really was pleased with it and so glad I got to try it. Even though the color is ugly, it leaves your skin feeling so soft and glowy. If you want to invest in a really great mask and are serious about skincare, you should pick one up. If you use it once or twice a week, it will last you a while.

Anyone else try it? Talk soon! Xo
