Calvin Klein Liquid Liner Marker in Psycho Candy

Crazy, photoshoot photos first.
Then normal day time look below that.
Then explanation as to why you might need this product.
I had WAY too much fun playing with it!

Soooo yeah, you could say that I had some fun with this product! Let’s start at the beginning. I was in Ulta last night, and saw they got in the new Calvin Klein makeup collection. Intrigued, I started playing with some of the liners on my hand. The CK liners have the marker-like tips, think they come in 4 or 5 shades. This teal really caught my eye, but it’s totally not a color I would pick out for myself. The makeup artist asked me if I’d like her to apply it for me, I said sure, what the hell! When she was done, I was shocked at how beautiful it was. I was thinking the shade would make me look like someone from an 80’s movie and that I would hate it. Completely the opposite. It was so shiny, it made my eyes pop, and I needed it. $17 later, it was all mine.

Fast forward to later in the night when I couldn’t wait to get home and play with it. It is SO simple to apply – the marker tip makes it super easy to get a beautiful line and even wing out the edges. The marker gives off just the right amount of product – I know that sounds weird to say, but it’s not too wet or gloppy or messy. Some liner markers don't give off enough product, and the tip is too stiff and hurts your eye lid. You guys know what I mean, right?

Anyway, it is probably one of my favorite purchases in the colored liner department. The teal color is such a nice twist on the usual black liner, and really adds interest to your eyes. And the name Psycho Candy – I’m dying. When I say this liner stays in place, it REALLY stays. Like almost to a fault. After I used it all over my eyes, it took some scrubbing with makeup remover and makeup wipes to completely get it off. Think of it as a sharpie marker. Good for longevity, but kind of a bitch to remove. Nonetheless, I’m wearing it again today at work (the “day time” look, not the crazy spider one) and I’m so happy with it. Hope you guys enjoyed, if they sell CK in a store near you I’d highly suggest playing with the liners! They have a ton of other makeup too which I haven’t tried yet. Happy lining!

OPI Gel - My Address is Hollywood

Pretty pink! I finally got my nails done after an exhausting 2 weeks of having gross, chipped, do it yourself nail polish. To say it was traumatic is an understatement. I used to be able to do my nails myself, but I guess I'm getting impatient in my old age HA.

I'm going to a wedding this weekend, and my dress is dark navy and sparkly! I didn't want my nails to compete with the dress, so I picked this pretty muted pink. I always have my manicurist cut my nails super short - I have terribly brittle nails that always break, so I've just accepted that fact and try not to grow them. After trying Shellac, Gelish and just about every other brand of gel polish, I always chose OPI gel. It lasts the longest, very rarely chips, and always looks pretty and shiny. Happy hands!

Hope everyone is having a good week! Many more posts to come, kind of had a makeup explosion in my apartment last night =)

Tria Hair Removal Laser: Part Two

For those of you that are interested, it probably makes sense to read my original post first if you haven't already. (click for first post). If you are a good little Makeup Majesty follower and read it already, good for you! Let's continue...

So last we spoke, I had only used the Tria laser once and was still getting used to using the device. I have used it twice since then, and am already starting to see results! My hair is thinner, finer and less coarse. This is very encouraging, being that it is a time consuming process and the Tria is not exactly battery friendly. I will continue using the Tria every two weeks as instructed, and eventually (hopefully) I will never have to shave my legs again!

A few tips and comments:

  • Despite having a fan inside to cool off the device, the metal tip of the Tria can get very hot after using it for a while. If this happens, I would stop using it and let it cool off.
  • It's a bit hard to see what you're doing sometimes, so I've put a mirror under my leg so I can see the backs of my legs and treat as much of the area as I can
  • Because the battery doesn't last very long, I only do certain parts of my body at one time. For example, the Tria battery will not last if you're treating both legs (upper and lower legs). So one day, i'll do both my lower legs, the next day i'll do my upper legs. Of course you can let it charge (2 hours) and treat other areas, but by that time i'm usually restless and over it haha
  • Don't put it on the highest setting if it hurts! I am guilty of this. I want to be as productive as possible with my Tria, but it's not worth being uncomfortable. Use a lower setting, it shouldn't be painful.

Hope this helped! I will continue documenting my Tria journey and give you guys some tips that I pick up along the way! xoxo

Makeup Purge - Again

So here were are yet again. Time to clean out the seemingly endless amount of lipsticks, eye shadows, and other makeup that I've accumulated over the past few months. Possibly my least favorite weekend activity, but it has to be done. The drawers of my mini makeup cabinet were so full of crap, that I couldn't even open them and see what I had. Here are some organization photos of my lip and eye drawer:

These were most of my lip products sprawled out on my table. What a mess. I realized how many of the same shade I kept buying, but who would have known if they were all buried underneath each other?!
I threw out stuff that I knew I wouldn't wear, stuff that was old, or stuff that was almost empty.

And now it looks pretty like this! Let's see how long I can keep this neat haha

This was my eye drawer - shadows, liners, mascaras, you name it
I think I had more purple and green shadows than anyone on the planet!
I tried keeping a few shades of each, and threw the rest out.

A lot more organized! I tried keeping pencils on one side and shadows on the other
This makes it much easier to grab one item in the morning and go,
instead of digging through the drawer and not being able to find anything.

Goodbye forever! As painful as it was to throw out makeup, it was necessary. My fiance would hold something up and ask "do you really need this?" It is so hard saying "no!" This garbage bag was so heavy, that it almost hurt my arm to carry it to the garbage. But hey, i'm just making room for more makeup in the future, right? =)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

My 2nd Try at OCC Lip Tar - Anime

Here we go again! So my first experience with Lip Tar wasn’t very successful read here ---> (OCC Lip Tar in Femme). I wasn’t sure if it was the color I chose, or how I applied it, but my first go at Lip Tar was a creasy, drying mess! I have heard so many wonderful things about this product that I convinced myself to try using it again. Sephora finally got Lip Tar in a few shades, so my wonderful husband to be bought me one as a reward for watching football on Sundays (a great system, I might add).

I put some Vaseline on, let it sit for a few minutes then dabbed it off
I applied the lip tar, then dabbed some extra Vaseline on top for shine
Photos were all taken by Greg!

You can kind of see the true color here a little better, even though the flash is all crazy haha

This is with the flash off, not a good representation of the shade (looks too muted here)

Sephora is selling their Lip Tar's with a little brush!
When I ordered my first Tar from the OCC website, it didn't come with a brush
Nice little bonus!

So I got the Lip Tar in Anime, and the color is obviously FAB. It’s totally a shade I would usually grab for – a pinkish purple maybe? So I gave the Tar a good few hours, and still got creasing. I read the package, and it said to apply a clear Lip Tar prior to the colored Tar. I'm not sure if it makes that big of a difference, does it guys? If the clear Tar is the answer to making these look awesome, I will totally buy it. I want to know what i'm doing wrong since I love both shades I have!  When I've read reviews on these, people have said how long lasting they are. But since I'm getting creasing, I feel the need to apply more often.

Any thoughts, Tar users? Always love reading your feedback!

Dream Matte Mousse is Everything BUT a Dream

I needed a new foundation, and was intrigued by Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse. I am a fan of Maybelline’s Dream Smooth Mousse (the original) and thought the new mousse texture would be lighter and feel nicer on skin. I gave the mousse a fighting chance (a few weeks), and there is no way I will ever use it again. Reasons why it didn’t work for me at ALL:

  •  It’s super messy. The product got all over my makeup bag and other products, all over the inside of my purse, and was constantly all over my hands. I found smudges of it in the bathroom, on my dresser, my clothing, etc. If you check out the photos below, you can see how the product seemed to escape to the outer rims of the component. It also balls up as you can see in the first photo. I ended up having to mix some of the product in the cap, just to get rid of the little balls before applying it. Way more work than it should be to apply a base
  •  It does not blend well. To my horror, there were a few occasions where my fiancĂ© actually said to me “Babe, I think you need to blend your makeup a little more, there’s lines.” Horrifying, right?

  •  It is bad for oily skin. I don’t know what it is about the formula, but by lunchtime my face looked like it needed to be washed, no SCRUBBED free of my foundation. I think it actually made my skin more oily, if that’s even possible.

I hate giving negative product reviews, but I figured I would be honest and let you know how much this product did not work for me. If you use it and it works for you, great! It might just be me. This was my personal experience with it. Like I said earlier, I really do love the original Dream Smooth Mousse, so I think I will stick with that for now. OK, promise i'm working on a positive post next haha! Happy Friday!!
